Memorial Day: Honoring those who sacrificed their lives for their country – and all of us

Afew decades ago, a close friend of mine, Keith “Crash” Reconnu, used to describe Memorial Day as “Happy Dead Day.” He spoke without malice, indicating it as a time to honor our deceased loved ones by decorating their graves and recalling the pleasant times we spent with them. At one time the holiday was even known as Decoration Day.
