PAGES OF THE PAST

• The area was mourning the death of popular educator Rosalie Carroll, who passed away at 77. Carroll spent most of her life molding the lives of young students, first as a teacher in the Bentworth School District for more than 30 years and for two decades as a member of the Charleroi Area school board. The Speers resident passed away after a short illness. Dr. Reid Smith, Charleroi Area’s acting superintendent, said, “I remember her as being made for teaching kids. No one was more interested and her classes showed it. She touched a lot of lives in those classrooms. No one was better.”
