MAKING THE GRADE

Local students graduate from Westminster College

Gia Monte received the College Chemistry Award from the Society for Analytical Chemists of Pittsburgh. Gia is a senior majoring in chemistry at Washington and Jefferson College.

The award includes both a monetary prize and a framed certificate of accomplishment. In addition, the student will have an engraved nameplate added to the school’s College Chemistry Awards Plaque of prior winners. The department faculty of the student’s college selects each recipient. Gia is the daughter of Kenneth and Michelle Monte and is a 2020 Elizabeth Forward High School graduate. While at W&J, Gia was named to the dean’s list, the honors program and the Pi Mu Epsilon Mathematics Honors Society. Gia was awarded the Nicholas and Josephine Tucci Award, Adlai Michaels Prize, Analytical Chemistry Undergraduate Award and Physical Chemistry Undergraduate Award.

Westminster College, New Wilmington, Pa., awarded diplomas to the following local students May 11, 2024, in the College’s Will W. Orr auditorium:

• Ashley Baldwin of Rostraver Township, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in professional communication and leadership.

• Morgan Byers of Venetia graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing and professional sales and sports management.

• Juliette Saunders of West Mifflin graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration.

• Alison Weir of Venetia graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting.

• Karina Wilson of Scenery Hill graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology.
