Many area mothers take on the challenge of raising special needs children

Mothers often feel emotionally depleted, but when a child with special needs develops friendships, talks in complete sentences or graduates from high school, their joy is more than words can describe.

Across the Mon Valley, many mothers care for adult-age children with special needs, a unique family setup they say takes determination, love and a hope for a positive future.
