Josephine Cipriani, 94, of Speers, passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at her home. She was born in New Kensington on Sept. 15, 1929, a daughter of Samuel and Laura Monack Cipriani. Josephine received her bachelor’s degree from California Teachers College. She taught for several years in the Charleroi Area and Belle Vernon Area school districts, at St. Sebastian Catholic School in Belle Vernon and as a substitute teacher at the former Mary, Mother of the Church Catholic School in Charleroi. She enjoyed gardening, reading health books, playing the lottery and spending Sunday afternoons with her two sisters at the Meadows. Josephine’s great love was children, and for all the children she taught, especially her special child that grew to be a great friend, Theresa Ornot Beistel. Josephine is survived by her sisters, Connie and Mary Cipriani of Speers. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Louis and Albert Cipriani. ​Visitation and a blessing service will be private. Interment at Sacred Heart Cemetery Carroll Township. Arrangements have been entrusted to LEONARD M. PAVLIC FUNERAL HOMES INC., 235 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi.
