John ‘Scotchy’ B. Newman Jr. – Monongahela

John “Scotchy” B. Newman Jr., 60, of Monongahela, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2024, with his “mum” by his side. He was born March 1, 1964, in New Eagle, the son of the late John B. Newman Sr. and Claire Williams Shearer, who survives and resides in West Newton. Scotchy graduated from Monongahela High School in 1982 and later attended Rosedale Technical College in Pittsburgh. He had several jobs throughout his life, including being employed by Midas in Pittsburgh, a delivery driver for Chartwell Pharmacy, a bus driver for the Elizabeth Forward School District and a driver for Vogue Limousines in Jeanette. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and going on road trips (Vanin’s) with his buddies. Scotchy also loved NASCAR races. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his daughter, Jessica (Jeff) Weiss; son, Seth (Megan) Newman; grandchildren, Cole, Karlee and Kyla Newman, all of Shelby Township, Mich.; nephew, Garett (Rachel) Tustin and their children, Madelynn and Brayden; best friend, Gonzo Behanna; fur buddy, Bo; several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his sister, Diane L. Newman, who died May 18, 2006; maternal grandparents, John and Lois Gailey Williams; and paternal grandparents, John and Anna Newman. Visitations and funeral services were held at FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., 427 W. Main St., Monongahela. Interment followed in Monongahela Cemetery. The family requests memorial donations to Frye Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the family at www.fryefuneralhome.com.
