Acquisition of U.S. Steel delayed

Nippon Steel announced Friday it has delayed the closing of its acquisition of U.S. Steel by three months after the U.S. Department of Justice requested more information about the sale from both companies.

The closing was originally slated to occur in the second or third quarter of the calendar year. The Japanese steelmaker announced in a press release that the closing will now take place in the third or fourth quarter of this year.
