Monessen receives Pirates Charities grant

The City of Monessen was awarded a $17,300 grant from Pirates Charities to install a youth batting cage at Shawnee Park.

City Administrator Mike Korposh announced the grant, which does not include a matching requirement, in a news release.

Construction of the batting cage will begin promptly, and it’s expected to be ready for use this summer. It will give youngsters in Monessen another spot in the city to practice their swing.
