Laurie J. Revetta Parnell, 68, of Monongahela, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, in her home. Born April 6, 1956, in Monongahela, she was the daughter of the late Eugene “Dean” and Frances “JoAnne” Gilpin Revetta. Laurie was a 1975 graduate of Monongahela High School and then earned her degree in teaching from California University. After returning to school to become a registered nurse, she worked at Magee Womens Hospital in Pittsburgh until she retired after 25 years. A member of the Slovak Club in Monongahela, Laurie is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Andrew (Jocelyn) Gunia of Bethel Park; stepchildren Jason (Dee) Gunia of Monongahela and David Parnell of Monongahela; and sons, Josh, Eli, and Levi; her former daughter-in-law, Michelle Parnell-DeSantis of Monongahela; Robert Parnell Jr. of Uniontown; a sister, Linda Roman of Peters Township; four grandchildren, Anna, Allen, Quinten and Gordan Gunia; and long-time best friend Shannon Brice. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Parnell. Friends will be received at MARSHALL MARRA FUNERAL HOME, 216 Chess St., Monongahela, 724-258-6767, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 on Monday, May 6, 2024. Everyone is asked to go directly to Monongahela Cemetery (graveside) on Tuesday for a service and interment beginning at noon. Condolences can be made online at marshallmarrafuneralhome.com.
