Pete Mihealsick, 93, of Dunlevy, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on April 29, 2024. Pete was born on July 9, 1930, to the late John and Helen Balog Mihealsick. Catholic by faith, Pete was a member of Saint Andrew the Apostle Church – Charleroi site and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Following high school, Pete served honorably in the United States Army National Guard and was a member of American Legion Post 801 in Roscoe. Pete worked for Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel in Allenport as a head roller on No.3 Hot Mill, and he and his wife were coordinators for Asher Phylum at St. Andrew the Apostle Church. Pete was also the president of Parent Teacher Guide (PTG). Pete was always staying busy. Gardening, hunting, his woodwork and restoration projects, canning and making wine were a few of many hobbies Pete enjoyed. He was also very active in his sons’ sporting events when they were younger and he was a talented musician who could play any instrument by ear, especially his guitar. Pete was a kind soul who had this love for life and for everyone. Above all, Pete cherished his time with friends and family, whom he loved the most and will miss him dearly. Surviving to cherish Pete’s memory are his brother, Charles Mihealsick; his sons, Patrick (Bonnie) Mihealsick, Paul Mihealsick and Leonard (Alyson) Mihealsick; his daughters, Kathleen (Frank) Cherup and Cheryl (Steve) Neff; his grandchildren, Briana (Jeff) Arrowood, Michael (Jenn Tatti) Mihealsick, Sarah Mihealsick, Dr. Ryan Mihealsick, Erin (Zachary Bernstein) Mihealsick, Kevin Mihealsick, Oliver (Kristen) Mihealsick, Christy (Mat) Allyn, Alexis (Dr. Cody Kuhel) Cherup, Frank Cherup, Zachary (Lauren McQueen) Cherup and Nicholas Cherup; Pete’s great-grandchildren Jackson Arrowood, Mary-Grace Arrowood, Margret Arrowood and Eloise Arrowood; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Theresa Mihealsick; his sisters, Helen Mihealsick, Mary Mihealsick, Anne Santo and Teresa Mihealsick; and his brothers, Michael Mihealsick and John Mihealsick. Friends and family will be received from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 5, 2024, at HOGAN-MELENYZER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES INC., 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, PA 15022. Doors will open at 9 a.m. Monday, May 6, 2024, for a gathering of friends before a noon Mass of Christian burial at St. Andrew the Apostle Church – Charleroi site, 624 Washington Ave., Charleroi, PA 15022.
