Arson suspected in Monessen fire

Arson is suspected in a fire early Sunday morning that brought a building to the ground along Rostraver Street in Monessen. Municipal Fire Chief Delmar Hepple said the blaze is suspected to be arson based on the nature of the flames showing and smells in the area when firefighters arrived around 3:30 a.m. in the 500 block of Rostraver Street. Flames could be seen shooting nearly 20 feet high above the two-and-a-half story, wood-frame structure. “I think it had a bit of help,” Hepple said.
