Lawrence ‘Ed’ E. Fine Sr. – Monongahela

Lawrence “Ed” E. Fine Sr., 81, of Monongahela, Forward Township, died peacefully at home on Friday, April 26, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was born Nov. 7, 1942, in Pangburn Hollow, son of the late Gordon M. and Clara T. Anthony Fine. Ed graduated from Monongahela High School, Class of 1960. He has resided in Monongahela, Forward Township, for the past 30 or so years. Ed worked for 34 years at the U.S. Steel Clairton Coke Works. He held several jobs there, but mostly worked in the pipe fitting shop. When Ed was not working, he found time to go camping and fishing at Lake Shawnee. In his younger days, he enjoyed riding his Moto Guzzi motorcycles. Ed is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann Hartman Fine; sons, Larry “JR” (Kim) Fine formerly of Addison, Dwaine (Stacey) Fine and his grandsons, Shane, Devin and Owen Fine, all of Charleroi; brothers, Louis C. (Linda) Fine of Forward Township, Roger L. (Rose Marie) Fine of Donora; several nieces and nephews; and his faithful K-9 companions, Rolo and Gus. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gordon B. Fine; and his sister and brother-in-law, Joan C. “Sis” (Jim) Holbert. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 29, 2024, at FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., 427 W. Main St., Monongahela, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2024, with the Rev. Jude Urso officiating. Interment will follow in Taylor Cemetery, Bunola. Memorial contributions may be made to Washington Area Humane Society, P.O. Box 66, Eighty Four, PA 15330. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the family at www.fryefuneralhome.com.
