By obits

Patricia Mikula, 86, of Monessen, passed away on April 22, 2024, after an extended illness. She was born on March 28, 1938, to George and Eleanor Johnson of Black Diamond, Pa. She leaves behind an incredible garden of friends and family that felt the love and joy that she brought to the world. She was an incredible baker, an amazing artist, loved to dance, read voraciously, was a den mother, a tireless volunteer with Mon Valley Hospital, St. Vincent de Paul, St. Mary’s Church, Meals on Wheels, and the president of her local PTA. She was a wonderful gardener, a devoted friend to her “birthday group” and card group buddies, and a friendly neighbor who always had a kind word.  She made the best halupki on the planet. Above all, she was a wife, mother and grandmother who loved without measure. She married Ed Mikula on Sept. 21, 1963, and they had five children, Mary, Ed, Cathy (passed), Jeff and Dave. She was preceded by her husband, Ed; her daughter, Cathy; her parents; her brother, George; and sisters, Pauline and Edith; and Ed’s siblings, Betty, George, John and Ann. She is survived by her children; her niece who was like a sister, Sandy; her best friend Lois; her grandchildren, Amanda, Aaron, Will, Cynthia, Sean, Craig (Amanda), Theo, Annabelle, Jace, Jacob and Annadea; four great-grandchildren; and countless nephews and nieces. There will be no funeral services as per her wishes. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you share a meal with those you love and donate to your local library or a cause of your choice. The family will be hosting a celebration of life picnic this summer. ROBERT A BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC., www.billicksfuneralhome.com has been entrusted with the arrangements.
