Frances Remaley Smith, 90, of Monongahela, Forward Township, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, in her home. Born Nov. 23, 1933, in Monessen, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Cecelia Nicholaus Remaley. Frances was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Church in Monongahela. For over 30 years, she worked for the Donora Public Library as one of their librarians until her retirement. Frances was a member of the Ladies of the Elks, Donora Lodge and the Ancient Order of Hibernians. She loved to garden and volunteered her time at the St. Vincent de Paul Society in Monessen. She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, David (Lynne) Smith of McDonald and Dr. Shawn J. Smith of Monongahela; two daughters and sons-in-law, Laurie (James) Brady of Gettysburg and Dr. Amy E. (Hugo) Reynosa of Stockton, Calif.; a sister, Lois Leckemby of Webster; six grandchildren, Angela Kovach, Jennifer (Ken) Craft, Hannah (James) Lewis, David and Derek Smith and William (Emily) Myers; nine great-grandchildren, (Ridley and Winter Lewis); and one great-great-granddaughter, Bobbi. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donn H. Smith, who passed away April 13, 2002; three brothers, Nick, Gene and Dallas Remaley; and a sister, Lois Leckemby. Friends will be received at MARSHALL MARRA FUNERAL HOME, 216 Chess St., Monongahela, 724-258-6767, from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 28, 2024. Prayers will begin in the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Monday, followed by a Mass of Christian burial that will be celebrated at St. Andrew the Apostle Parish in Monongahela at 11 a.m. Interment will be held in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
