Bonnie Kay Mills – Belle Vernon

By obits

Bonnie Kay Mills, 76, of Belle Vernon, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 11, 2024. The daughter of the late Glenn and Florence Vercoe Klingensmith, she was born on June 2, 1947, in Brownsville. Methodist by faith, Bonnie graduated from Donora High School in 1965. While she didn’t grow up in Belle Vernon, Bonnie truly made it her home. So much so, that it’s where she and her husband, Alden C. Mills, raised their two daughters, Glenda (Frank J.) Basista of Belle Vernon and Kelly (Robert) Burke of Deerfield Beach. And as time continued, Bonnie made an impact in her local community with her countless hours of volunteer work and activities, including Meals On Wheels. Bonnie’s resilience knew no bounds, and she always made lemonade out of lemons, whether that be literally or figuratively. A passionate cook and an avid reader, Bonnie’s creative talents were a huge part of her professional life and volunteer activities. She was a former manager at Hoss’s Steak and Sea House before a career change that brought her to Channel Craft in North Charleroi, where she retired from in 2001. Between her duties as the former secretary of the Tenants’ Association at the high rise or her 12 years of service at St. Sebastian School, Bonnie didn’t let retirement stop her from keeping busy. But perhaps what kept her busiest of all, was her four grandchildren, Courtnee Basista of California, Pa., Hunter Basista of Robinson Township and Savannah and Brady Burke of Deerfield Beach, Fla. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-5300, www.FergusonFuneralHomeandCrematory.com.
