Janet Whitney Baum, age 85, of Elizabeth Township, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2024, surrounded by family. She was born Janet Frances Whitney on Aug. 12, 1938, in McKeesport, daughter to James and Nora Graham Whitney. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Murin; ex-husband, David Del Signore; brothers, James (Velma) and Gerald (Rose) Whitney; and sister, Laverne (Jerry) Shaner. She is survived by her husband, Robert W. Baum; sister, Norma (Duane) Dearfield of Cranberry; her six sons, Daniel Del Signore, Michael Del Signore, David Jr. Del Signore of North Versailles, Chris Del Signore (Nancy) of Irwin, John Del Signore (Amy) and Chad Murin of Cranberry; 14 grandchildren; 19 great- grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Janet was very proud of and loved her family and spent her life enjoying the activities of her family from football, basketball, baseball and softball games to dance recitals, cheerleading and band competitions. With an unwavering love for her large family, she cherished every moment of togetherness, whether it was the grandest of family events or the simplest gatherings, where laughter echoed through crowded living rooms. She was a 1956 graduate of St. Peter’s Catholic High School in McKeesport. She worked as a bus monitor for the McKeesport School District. Janet and her husband Bob are long time members of Youghiogheny Country Club. They both enjoyed golf, skiing, boating and traveling. Janet and Bob traveled the world together both with friends and family. Janet was a steadfast supporter of her husband’s involvement in numerous community service groups, faithfully attending events alongside him and contributing to their shared commitment to making a positive impact in their community. Her love was infectious to all, and she lived life to the fullest. Janet’s warmth and love touched the lives of all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed but forever remembered. Family and friends will gather from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 12, 2024, at STRIFFLER’S OF WHITE OAK CREMATION AND MORTUARY SERVICES INC., 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177). A service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 13, 2024, in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at New St. Joseph’s Cemetery in North Versailles.
