Sonya Lynn Clemente, 55, of Richland Township, Gibosnia, Pa., passed away on April 4, 2024, after a long battle with ovarian cancer. Her final moments were spent peacefully in her home surrounded by her family. Born in Monongahela, she is the daughter of Priscilla Hodgson and the late Robert Metcalfe. Following her graduation from high school, Sonya served in the United States Marine Corps. She also worked as a deputy sheriff in Augusta, Ga., and as a police officer at the Pittsburgh VA Medical Center before pursuing a career in real estate. Sonya spent 20 years in the real estate business as both a realtor and managing sales director. Throughout her career, she earned both regional and national recognition for her success. Sonya was also an active member of the community, volunteering with her dog Sadie for Therapy Dog International and serving as a mentor in the Charleroi Big Brothers/Big Sisters program. Sonya is survived by her mother, Priscilla Hodgson; loving husband of 26 years, Shawn Brian Clemente; and sons, Shawn Alec Clemente and wife Susan Clemente, Skylar Blaise Clemente; and canine daughter, Sadie; a brother, Robert Metcalfe; and best friend, Amber Emphrey. She was predeceased by her father, Robert Metcalfe. Sonya will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Sonya’s family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life, not the sadness of her passing. Immediate services will be private at the convenience of the family, with a celebration of life to be announced at a later date.
