Edward D. Dera, 68, of Charleroi, passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Penn Highlands Connellsville. Born in North Charleroi on March 4, 1956, he was the son of Ruth Good Dera of Charleroi and the late Edward S. Dera. Edward attended California State College and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. He was a devout Christian. Edward enjoyed hunting and gardening. He loved sharing an abundance of his fresh garlic and asparagus with family and friends. ​Besides his mother, Edward is survived by his two brothers, Thomas E. (Sharon) Dera of San Antonio, Texas, and John M. (Lannie) Dera of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; a sister, Rebecca L. Pashley of Kinsman, Ohio; five nieces and nephews, Nathan Dera, Justin Dera, Rachael Kerchofer, Bethany Scott and Kate Fantone; and 16 great-nieces and great-nephews. ​Visitation and services will be private. Interment will take place at Grandview Cemetery in Monessen. Arrangements have been entrusted to MELENYZER FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATIONS SERVICES INC., 825 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi.
