Charles R. Griffith, 67, of New Eagle, died unexpectedly Thursday, Feb. 29, 2024, at Jefferson Hospital. He was born July 4, 1956, in New Eagle, son of Charles R. and Ruth Meek Griffith. Charles is a 1974 graduate of Bentworth High School and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, having served during the Vietnam War. He retired after 55 years as a landscaper at Sugar Run Nursery in Venetia. Charles was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, gardening, root hunting and fishing, especially on his annual trips to Erie with his daughter, Tiffany. He is survived by his wife, Sherry Leech Griffith; three sons, Charles R. (Christina) Griffith IV of Monongahela, Steven (Billie Jo) Griffith of Monongahela and Andrew (Charleen) Griffith of Charleroi; daughters, Ashley (Gary) Griffith of Chippewa and Tiffany (Joshua) Griffith of Pittsburgh; close friend, Cindy Bickel; eight grandchildren, Gabriella, Alex, Liam, Toby, Nolan, Kasen and Rylee Griffith and Wyatt Lamb; siblings, Lisa (Michael) Cowfer of Preston, Md., Joseph (Vicki) Griffith of Berryville, Va., Peter (Joann) Griffith of Rochester, Martin (Kristin) Griffith of Rostraver and Frances (William) Rhoderick of Monongahela; his loving dogs, Bandit, Gypsy  and Cinnamon; and a plethora of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughters, Jasmine and Zoe Griffith; brothers, Roger and Ananias Griffith; dear friend, Laura Lee; and his beloved dog, Peanut. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., 427 W. Main St., Monongahela, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 7, 2024, with the Rev. Jude Urso officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Mon Valley Honor Guard and Firing Squad. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the family at www.fryefuneralhome.com.
