Tigers earn No. 2, Warriors No. 3 for playoffs

The WPIAL basketball postseason is upon us and the girls championship tournament brackets are set, as the WPIAL announced the playoff field Friday afternoon. Between four classifications, eight teams will represent the Mon Valley with three of them finding themselves among the top three teams in their brackets. The highest local seed comes in Class 5A, with the McKeesport Tigers claiming the No. 2 overall seed. It may be a little bit of a surprise as the Tigers (18-3) finished second in Section 3 behind No. 1 and undefeated Oakland Catholic. McKeesport lost twice to the Eagles and to Class 6A No. 1 Norwin.
