In a frantic, high-scoring game between two PSAC West foes Wednesday night, it was California Pa. that left Seton Hill with a hard-fought, 100-93 victory.
The Vulcans (19-3, 13-3) shot 55.7% from the field and made 13 of 26 three-pointers, but the Griffins (12-10, 7-9) actually bested them in both categories, converting on 58.3% of their shots and 13 of 23 attempts from downtown. California had six double-digit scorers post every point, as KJ McClurg posted a game-high 21 points, Zyan Collins had 20, Keith Palek scored 18, Bryson Lucas posted 17, and Jermaine Hall and Donald Whitehead added 12 each. On the other side, Seton Hill was led by 16 points from Dimitri Sklavenitis.
Needless to say, the game was an exciting one that came down to the wire before the Vulcans pulled away with under five minutes left.
“I’m happy to get the win on the road against a team that plays very well,” California head coach Danny Sancomb said. “They don’t beat themselves; they’re well coached and they make you beat them. Offensively, I’m very happy with how we played. We had 22 assists, we moved the ball well, and we only had three turnovers, which was big.”
