William Joseph Hixenbaugh – Elyria, Ohio

William Joseph Hixenbaugh, 75, of Elyria, Ohio, passed away on Friday, Feb. 2, 2024. The son of the late William Hixenbaugh and John and Thelma Cavanaugh, he was born in Charleroi on April 11, 1948. Formerly of Belle Vernon, Bill has been a resident of Elyria, Ohio, since 1983. He had been employed by U.S. Steel in Homestead before moving, then at Republic Steel in Lorain County, retiring in 2002. He was a former member of the Belle Vernon Volunteer Fire Company No. 1. and F&AM Lodge 32. Bill enjoyed watching Pittsburgh sports and going to his children’s and grandchildren’s football and basketball games. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jennie (Van Divner) Hixenbaugh; four children, Billie Jo (Chris) Lutska of Grindstone, Robert (Robin) Hixenbaugh of Newell, Roselina Vega of Willoughby, Ohio, and Jake Hixenbaugh of Elyria, Ohio; his siblings, Teddy Hixenbaugh, Linda Moore and Vicki Parson; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joey Hixenbaugh. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-5300, www.FergusonFuneralHomeandCrematory.com. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home with Pastor Earl Rosenbalm officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
