By obits

Roy E. Potersnak, 94, a lifelong resident of Port Vue, died on Jan. 27, 2024.  Born Sept. 13, 1929, in Port Vue, he was the son of the late Ed and Elizabeth Walko Potersnak and the husband of the late Dolores Szymarek Potersnak. Born with an innate talent, Roy was a carpenter who possessed the remarkable ability to build and fix anything. Whether it was constructing a sturdy structure or tackling complex plumbing, woodworking, electrical or car maintenance tasks, Roy approached every project with unwavering dedication and skill. Beyond his crafting abilities, Roy was a cherished Port Vue Memorial American Legion Post 447 member, where he formed lifelong friendships. A man of simple pleasures, he enjoyed a coffee or beer with friends. One of Roy’s greatest passions was his love for world history, particularly he had a profound interest in the events and stories surrounding World War II. As a dedicated student of history, he enriched his understanding of the past. Roy’s extensive knowledge and storytelling captivated all who engaged with him. Roy is survived by his daughter, Lynn Baird; grandchildren, Daniel (Nicole) Baird and Emily (Jeffrey) Loeb; and great-granddaughters, Olivia and Isabelle. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by sisters, Grace Kontz and Ruth Beech; and his longtime companion, Gloria Loutitt. A memorial Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, 2024, at Saints Joachim and Anne Parish, St. Eugene Church. Inurnment will follow at Penn Lincoln Memorial Park.
