Robert “Bob” Caldwell Hayden, 77, of Forward Township, passed away on Friday, Feb. 2, 2024. Bob, the son of Frank G. Hayden Jr. and Marion Caldwell Hayden, was born Oct. 17, 1946. Raised in Forward Township, Bob was an Eagle Scout and a graduate of Elizabeth Forward High School, Class of 1964. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Science from West Virginia University in 1968 and was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. After graduation from WVU, Bob worked alongside his father at the family dairy farm, Mentor Farms in Forward Township, for more than two decades. His career transitioned from being a full-time dairy farmer to working as a heavy equipment operator; however, he continued to pursue his passion for farming until his passing. He was an active member of Freemasonry and was a past officer of Charleroi-Monongahela Lodge, Monessen Chapter, Washington Council, McKean Commandery and Mon Valley AMD. Bob was also a member of Keystone Priory, Red Cross of Constatine, St. Thomas of Acon, Valley of Pittsburgh Scottish Rite, Knight Masons and York Rite College. Bob is survived by his three children, Amy (Aaron) Bernett of Gibsonia, R.C. (Andrea) Hayden Jr. of Sewickley and Mackenzie (Craig) Russell of Lawrence; and four grandchildren, Hanna Bernett, Molly Bernett, Kaitlyn Hayden and Amelia Hayden. He is also survived by his siblings, Beth “Elizabeth” Backus of Monongahela and Frank G. (Sandy) Hayden III of Forward Township; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, 2024, at FRYE FUNERAL HOME, 427 W. Main St., Monongahela, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024. Interment will follow at Monongahela Cemetery. The Charleroi-Monongahela Lodge will conduct Masonic services at 7 p.m. Friday evening in the funeral home. Donations may be made in honor of Bob to the Children’s Dyslexia Centers (a charity of Scottish Rite Freemasonry), www.childrensdyslexiacenters.org.
