Emil P. Babines – New Alexandria, Pa.

Emil P. Babines, 100, of New Alexandria, Pa., formerly of Donora, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024, at his home. He was born July 10, 1923, in Donora, son of the late Michael and JoHanna Feckovic Babines. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in West Newton, Pa. He worked in the Donora Mill and then went on to serve as a radio operator in the U.S. Army during World War II, during which time he learned to box. Emil worked at U.S. Steel as a millwright and retired after 40-plus years of service. He liked hunting and fishing, duckpin bowling and yearly deer hunting trips to Marionville with his brother, John. Emil often listened to the Ed King and Wendy Bell radio show and enjoyed doing his own remodeling. He was preceded in death by both parents; loving wife of 77 years, Marie A. Babines; granddaughter, Anna Marie Savini; son-in-law, Jack L. Savini; brothers, Michael, Joseph, John and Raymond; and sisters, Helen Baldinger, Mary Zhabrovsky and Ann Noofita; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Daryle and Russell “Butsy” Backstrom. He is survived by son, Dennis (Guinevere) Babines of West Virginia; daughter, Nanette Savini of New Alexandria, Pa.; grandchildren, Shawn (Amy) Babines, Kirk (Renee) Babines, Darcy Babines, Jayna (Joe) Taylor and Todd (Amy) Savini; great-grandchildren, Catherine Babines, Alexis (Christian) Babines, Sebastian Babines and Logan Swartz; and great-great-grandchild, Harper Lee Shank.
