Greyhounds avenge loss to Pioneers

The Monessen boys basketball team had hopes of an undefeated section record this winter. Those hopes were dashed last week when West Greene upset Monessen at home. With a pivotal Section 2-1A game Friday night on the road against the Pioneers, the Greyhounds had their backs against the wall in the final quarter in front of a hostile crowd. But their senior leadership and overall poise down the stretch were the difference makers, as Monessen left Greene County with an emphatic 66-55 victory over West Greene and now has the inside track for the section title.
