Ann Maisano – Monessen
Ann Maisano, 94, of Monessen, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2024, in Jefferson Hospital, with her loving family by her side. She was born on Aug. 26, 1929, in Monessen, daughter of the late Ignazio and Catherine Atria Buffa. She was a member of Epiphany of our Lord Church, the Epiphany Ladies, Italian-American Heritage Society and loved spending time with her family. She possessed a unique ability to spread love effortlessly, and in return, she was cherished by all who had the privilege of crossing paths with her. Ann was not only extraordinarily generous but also a compassionate spirit. Her culinary talents were unmatched as she was the best cook, cookie maker and birthday cake baker. She is survived by Carol Gussman and Michael Wood of Pittsburgh; Aimee and Larry Pro of Monessen; Bob and Myra Maisano of Stuart, Fla.; Joe Maisano and Bob Cypher of Monessen; granddaughters, Carisa and Dieter Quinn of Atlanta, Ga., and Amanda Gussman of Pittsburgh; grandsons, John Maisano of Monessen and Michael and Lindsey Maisano of Atlanta, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Max, Matilda, Monti, Rocco, John Micheal and Giotto; and her loving companion, Ruby. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Michael “Mike” L. Maisano; two sons, John and Tom Maisano; great-granddaughter, Rose; and sister, Rose Weiss. Friends will be received from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, at DALFONSO-BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC. AND CREMATION SERVICES, 441 Reed Ave., Monessen. Services will be held Monday, Feb. 5, 2024, beginning with a blessing service in the funeral home at 9:30 a.m., followed by a 10 a.m. Mass will take place at Epiphany of our Lord Church with Rev. Michael Crookston officiating. Interment will follow in the Grandview Cemetery. Epiphany Ladies will hold their prayer service in the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Ann had a profound connection to her Christian faith, beginning during her early years when she helped her mother in the cleaning of the old St. Cajetan Church Rectory on Schoonmaker Avenue. Her spiritual journey laid the foundation for a life lived as an “Earth Angel,” a role model whose virtues we aspire to emulate. Throughout her life, Ann remained a steadfast beacon of faith, showcasing her beliefs through acts of compassion, boundless generosity and dedicated volunteerism. She will be greatly missed.
