Vulcans avoid letdown against Fighting Scots

If the Edinboro men’s basketball team was hoping the California (Pa.) men would be in letdown mode Wednesday, they were sadly mistaken.
KJ McClurg led four Vulcans in double figures with a team-high 22 points as the Vulcans breezed by the Fighting Scots, 88-73, in a PSAC West matchup.
The Vulcans were poised for that let-down type of game, ending a 21-game losing streak against perennial power IUP Monday, and a rematch with No. 9 Gannon looming Saturday.
But head coach Danny Sancomb was confident his team wouldn’t see things that way.
“Not at all, this game was just the next one on the schedule. We’ve done a great job this season of going one at a time, and this one was no different,” Sancomb said. “Edinboro makes you work defensively. They move well without the ball, they can really move the ball and they got some guys that can score.
“We had a good walk-through practice yesterday and I knew we’d be ready for this one.”
