Cal women let first-half lead slip away against Edinboro

Carrying a nine-point lead into the halftime break, California was unable to capture a PSAC West win, falling 57-51 at the hands of Edinboro at the Convocation Center Wednesday night.
“It was super disappointing,” California head coach Jess Strom said. “We were up 10 points. We should be able to hold a lead if we play defense … and make shots. If you can’t make an outside shot, they’re not gonna play you.
“I think we have to look at personnel and who can make plays offensively. Dejah (Terrell) can’t carry the entire load offensively, and it’s two straight games where we’ve scored 51 points. You have to score more than that to win in Division II basketball.”
Terrell led the Vulcans (14-6, 9-5) with 22 points while Allycia Harris was her only teammate to join her in double digits with 11.
On the other side, Hayley Sims paced all scorers with 25 points and shut the game down defensively to close out the hard-fought win for Edinboro (11-8, 9-5). Ashten Boggs added 15 points behind her.
