‘Internal issues’ force cancellation of McKeesport girls game

The McKeesport girls basketball Section 3-5A game against Connellsville scheduled at Neenie Campbell Gymnasium Wednesday was postponed due to an “on-going situation,” Athletic Director Charley Kiss said.
Kiss confirmed that some players left the team, as reported by some tips received by the newspaper. It was also reported that head coach Amy Gumbert resigned, which was not confirmed by Kiss.
“Some of what was reported to you was accurate. We have had some internal issues this week which we hope to have resolved by the end of the week,” Kiss said. “We just didn’t feel that we were on enough solid footing to hold the game (Wednesday). There were a number of factors in the situation that we thought it was in the best interests of the program to postpone. We talked to Connellsville and they agreed to rescheduling it.”
