In its first meeting of the new year, the Charleroi Area School Board got down to business.
Directors unanimously approved several personnel and policy moves during Wednesday night’s meeting.
One of the newest revised policies this year involves district security, one of the biggest priorities for the administration.
Newly revised policy 709, which directly impacts security, comes in light of a recent study done within the district to improve the safety of students and staff.
Earlier this month, the district began to review information gathered from a recent risk and vulnerability assessment to help improve safety.
The district recently underwent a comprehensive risk and vulnerability assessment across its facilities.
This initiative aimed to identify potential risks, enhance security measures and fortify the overall safety infrastructure within the district.
There were four primary initiatives: to identify potential threats, strengthen physical security, evaluate the district’s emergency preparedness and response and evaluate cyber security.
The assessment included a detailed evaluation of physical security measures, like access-control systems, surveillance cameras and perimeter security to ensure they meet safety standards.
It also evaluated the district’s preparedness in case of an emergency and cyber security.
