Theodore Allen Woods, 92, of Charleroi, formerly of Monongahela, died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2024, in his home. He was born Nov. 11, 1931, in Charleroi, son of John Charles and Isabella Gosney Woods. Theodore was a 1949 graduate of Charleroi High School and a veteran having served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Christian Center Church in Rostraver. He was employed as a bus driver for Greyhound and 88 Transit for many years. Theodore retired as a safety director at Combustion Engineering with over 20 years of employment. Theodore met the love of his life, Sally, in 1951, on a blind date at the movie theater. They were married a year later on March 28, 1952. They shared a special, unconditional love that spanned over seven decades. Theodore loved his wife and family more than anything, and would do anything for them. He was a vibrant man who had a great sense of humor. He was quite the jokester and loved making up songs with his family. Theodore held a “Ripley’s Believe It or Not!” record for being born on 11/11 at 11:11 weighing 11 pounds, 11 ounces. He was an amazing baker who could make anything and worked as a chef while in the Army. Theodore could be a stubborn man but had the softest heart. He lived for others and always strived to “make the wrongs right.” His family and friends find comfort knowing that he is with the Lord. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Sara “Sally” Seaman Woods; daughter, Amy (George) Quigley of Elizabeth; daughter-in-law, Sally Woods of  Monongahela; son-in-law, Wayne (Amy) Parnell of Monongahela; seven grandchildren, Lyndsay (Chris) Bolin, Keith (Michelle) Woods, Jack David (Stephanie) Woods, Joseph “Joe” Parnell, twins, Hannah (Jarret) Ross and Justin Parnell, Joshua Savarino; four great-grandchildren, Carter and Emmett Bolin, Madison Woods, Ellie Woods; sister, Trudy (George) Brown of Danville; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Esther Gansler Woods; son, John “Jack” Woods who died in 2017; daughter, Patricia “Patty” Parnell, who died in 2002; two brothers and sisters-in-law, John C. (Fredda) Woods Jr., William “Bud” (Freda) Gosney. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, 2024, at FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., 427 W. Main St., Monongahela, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024, with the Rev. Tim Burgan officiating. Interment will follow in the Monongahela Cemetery with military honors rendered by the Mon Valley Honor Guard and Firing Squad. A heartfelt thanks to Todd and Haverly of Gateway Hospice. At the request of the family, memorial contributions may be made to Youth with a Mission – Greater Philadelphia, 7500 Germantown Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19119.
