Frederick A. “Rick” Wallace, 74, of Monongahela, died peacefully on Jan. 21, 2024, at Penn Highlands Mon Valley Hospital surrounded by family. He was born Oct. 11, 1949, in Homestead, a son of the late Alexander and Martha Manns Wallace. Rick worked for Norfolk Southern Railroad as a locomotive engineer for 20 years until his retirement. He was a great “handy man” and could fix anything. He loved to remodel, and it was always done to perfection. Rick and his wife Martha loved to travel in the states and Europe. He particularly loved Sanibel Island in Florida and Myrtle Beach, S.C., where Martha and he visited their grandson, Jayson. He was an avid fan of the Steelers and his favorite band, The Rolling Stones. He also enjoyed his Triumph motorcycle. Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Martha Wallace; sisters, Zelma (Rob) Vitalbo of Destin, Fla., and Jeanine (Jim) Lynch of Calabash, S.C.; and brother, Gregg (Midge) Wallace of Old Towne, Maine. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepson, Jason Bezy; and his boxer dog, Thor. Until we meet again, Rick, may you rest in peace. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to RHOME FUNERAL HOME INC., 1209 Grand Blvd., Monessen, where friends will be welcomed from noon to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, 2024. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024, with the Very Rev. Constantine Curchin officiating. Interment will follow at the Grandview Cemetery of Monessen.
