Leonard A. “Lenny” Augustine, 71, of Monongahela, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2024, at Mon-Valley Care Center, Carroll Township. Born on Jan. 30, 1952, in Monongahela, he was the son of the late John and Mary Panseri Augustine. Lenny was a 1970 graduate of Monongahela High School and for years worked as a meat cutter around the area at various stores until his retirement from Finleyville Giant Eagle. He was an avid Steelers fan and was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish in Monongahela. When his children were younger he was very involved with his son’s boy scout troop and loved spending his summers camping at Swallow Falls in Deep Creek, Md. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Evan and Brooke Augustine of Irwin; a daughter, Elise Roman of Morgantown, W.Va.; a sister, Lorraine Ambrose of Donora; and his grandson, Oliver Augustine; along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, John Augustine; and his brother-in-law, Lou Ambrose. Friends will be received at MARSHALL MARRA FUNERAL HOME, 216 Chess St., Monongahela, 724-258-6767, from 5 to 7:45 p.m. Tuesday at which time a service will begin with Deacon Alex Poroda officiating.
