Elizabeth ‘Libby’ Miklos – Virginia Beach, Va.

Elizabeth “Libby” Miklos died on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2024, in her home in Virginia Beach, Va. Born in Charleroi on Sept. 29, 1938, to George Peters and Elizabeth Stasicha Peters, she lived in Charleroi for almost 70 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Miklos, and her brother, David Peters of Delray Beach, Fla. Mrs. Miklos graduated from Charleroi High School in 1956, then went on to the University of Pittsburgh and California University of Pennsylvania for a degree in education. She did her master’s work at West Virginia University. She was an English teacher at Elizabeth Forward High School from 1960 to 1967, then at Southmoreland Junior High and High School from 1967 to 1994, when she retired. She served as organist and choir director at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Charleroi for over 25 years. She and her husband traveled extensively, touring the U.S. and Canada and visiting every continent except Antarctica. After her husband’s death in 2008, she moved to Westminster-Canterbury on Chesapeake Bay in Virginia Beach, Va., where she resided until her death. There will be no public visitation or service. Memorial donations may be made to Mission of the Holy Spirit, 1445 Norview Ave., Norfolk, VA 23513.
