Joan Boda – Charleroi
Joan Boda, 81, of Charleroi, died peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024, in Virginia Beach, Va., surrounded by her sister, Beverly, and brother-in-law, Frank, who together sacrificed their own lives and provided excellent around-the-clock care to her since her car accident in July. Joan was born May 9, 1942, and was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Boda. Joan was a Charleroi High School graduate in the Class of 1960 and was Lutheran by faith. She was a lifelong active member of St John’s Lutheran Church in Charleroi. Joan was a social butterfly who loved everyone! She could always be found helping others. Despite her injuries and struggles over the past six months, she never would complain and when asked how she was doing, would always respond with, “I’M FINE!” Left to cherish her memory are her niece, whom she raised as her own daughter, Nicole Polinski of Fallowfield Township and husband Mike and their two sons, Michael and Nicholas, whom she loved and cherished more than anything! She never missed an event of Michael’s or Nick’s since the day they were born; they were her everything! She is also survived by her sister, Beverly (Frank) Denson of Virginia Beach; one brother, Kenneth (Cheryl) Boda of North Charleroi; and her sister-in-law, June Boda of Tampa, Fla. Joan had numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends, all whom she adored, especially her dearest friend, Rose McManus and her family. Although Joanie will be missed terribly, we are happy to know she is rejoicing in Heaven with our heavenly Father. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Boda. Joan was never married but spent over 45 years with the love of her life, George “Moe” Ramusivich, who died on Aug. 15, 2015. Friends and family will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, 2024, at HOGAN-MELENYZER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES INC., 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, PA 15022. A funeral service will be held inside the funeral home at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024. Interment will follow at Charleroi Cemetery.
