Charles E. Dornan – Monongahela

Charles E. Dornan, 93, of Monongahela, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2024, at Haven Crest Nursing Center in Monongahela. He was born Oct. 9, 1930, in Carroll Township, the son of Charles E. and Gladys Binley Dornan. For over 30 years, Charles was employed by and retired from the former Suwak Trucking Company in Washington. He was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Monongahela. Many years ago, Charles was a driver and dispatcher for Tri-Community Ambulance in Monongahela. He was a peacetime veteran of the U.S. Army. Charles was the perfect husband of Betty Hartman Dornan, with whom he celebrated 67 years of marriage on Sept. 21, 2023. He is also survived by four brothers, John Dornan of Monongahela, George Dornan of Santee, Calif., Paul Dornan of Washington, D.C., and Robert Dornan of State College; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia “Jeane” Summerville. Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024, at FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., 427 W. Main St., Monongahela. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2024, at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 911 Howard St., Monongahela, with the Rev. Rebecca Dittenhafer officiating. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the family at www.fryefuneralhome.com.
