Mary M. Maguire Kovalsky, 97, of Fayette City, formerly of North Belle Vernon, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2024, at Penn Highlands – Mon Valley in Carroll Township. Born Sept. 17, 1926, in Monessen, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Lillian Hickey Maguire. A resident of Fayette City for the past eight years, previously of North Belle Vernon, Mrs. Kovalsky was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church and a former member of St. Sebastian Ladies Guild. She was a homemaker, an avid reader and enjoyed old movies and traveling to the beach and Ohiopyle. She is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Rose and Mark Souply of Fayette City, Mary Igoe and Pat Smider of Canonsburg; sister, Louise Stark of North Belle Vernon; five grandsons, David Igoe, Matthew Kovalsky, Pete Kovalsky, Adam Souply and Aaron Souply; seven great-grandchildren, Olsen and Lyla Igoe, Levi Kovalsky and Luke, Jackson, Kyler and Esman Souply; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Kovalsky, on March 14, 2003; two sons and daughters-in-law, Pete (Linda) Kovalsky, Hugh (Louann) Kovalsky; infant son, Francis Kovalsky; two brothers, Francis and Thomas Maguire; and a sister, Lillian Maguire. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME & CREMATIONS LLC, family owned and operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-6183. Prayers of transfer will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday in the funeral home, followed by a 10 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Sebastian R.C. Church with the Rev. Michael J. Crookston as celebrant.
