Rudy Andrew Guy, 71, of Canton, Ohio, formerly of Charleroi and Erie, Pa., passed away Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024, in his home surrounded by loved ones. Born in New Eagle on Dec. 22, 1952, he was the only son of the late Andrew J. and Emma Jane Rehula Guy. He was a member of Trinity Brethren Church. Rudy was a 1970 graduate of Charleroi Area High School and a 1974 graduate of Edinboro State College (Penn West). Retired after 30 years of service from Erie Insurance group as a claims adjuster, he also coached soccer at Our Lady’s Christian School, Strong Vincent High School of Erie, Pa., Lake High School of Hartville and Glen Oak High School of Canton. The founder of the Erie Apple Crunchers computer club, he was also a contributing editor for Nibble magazine. An avid sports fan, Rudy was a Pittsburgh sports supporter, especially the Steelers. He loved photography and traveling, Sanibel Island being one of his favorite destinations.Rudy never met a stranger and made friends wherever he went. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl (Brothers) Guy; six daughters, Melanie (David) Moyer, Monica (Steve) Shope, Alexandra Taliani, Amanda (Aaron) Sowick, Kelly (Joe) Bernstein and Lisa (Joe) Hardman; son, Christopher Brothers; two sisters, Debby Leech and Andrea Guy; grandchildren, Jacob, Katelynn, Zachariah, Olivia (Christian), Emma, William (Danielle), Audrey, Edith, Joseph, Nolan, Easton, Luke, Camden and Hayden; two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Raelynn; as well as two nephews, Raymond and Michael Leech. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024, in Trinity Brethren Church, 455 55th St. NW, North Canton, OH 44720. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Cleveland Clinic Hospice, especially hospice nurse Taunia, along with family friends, Mike and Sue Gardner and Tom and Sue Geissinger, for all of the loving care and support during a difficult time.
