Joseph John Nick, 76, of California, Pa., died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024. He was born July 8, 1947, in Brownsville, son to Steven Nick and Verna Semonsky Nick. Joseph proudly served our country in the Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a coal miner at Mathies Coal Company for 30 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, John Paul Nick; brother and sister-in-law, Steven and Lana Nick; his mother-in-law, Anna (Eddy) Wolfe; and sisters-in-law, Wendy and Nancy Nick. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 50 years, Paulette Nick; son and daughter-in-law, Joel and Krissy Nick; brothers, Frank Nick and Michael Nick; sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Dave Swarrow; and his grandson, Elliot Nick. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at MARISCOTTI FUNERAL HOME INC., Anthony N. Mariscotti, supervisor, 323 Fourth St., California, Pa., from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2024, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and until 11 a.m. Friday, when funeral services will begin in the funeral home with the Rev. Kristen Emrick officiating. Interment will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park, Briar Hill, Pa., where full military honors will be accorded.
