Valley communities ready for first snowfall

The first weekend of the new year could bring wintry weather to the area, and road crews across the Mon Valley are preparing for what could be the first substantial snowfall of this season. Throughout Allegheny, Fayette, Washington and Westmoreland counties, most weather reports are expecting 1 to 2 inches of snow from around 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. Crews are preparing their equipment and schedules for what could be a busy weekend.
