John ‘Bruce’ Sawicky – New Eagle

John “Bruce” Sawicky, 77 of New Eagle, passed away in Jefferson Hospital on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2023. He was born in Brownsville on Oct. 14, 1946, a son of the late John and Betty Mayle Sawicky. Bruce graduated from Bentleyville High School in 1964 and for 25 years worked as a welder and painter for Chrysler Corporation in Detroit, Mich., until his retirement in 2011. An antique fanatic, he was a member and current secretary of the Hoot Owls Club in New Eagle and the Lions Club. He enjoyed watching Grand Prix and fishing, especially at his favorite spot in Blackhole Run, W.Va. Bruce is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Amy (Tim) Trusler of Beallsville; two brothers, Richard Sawicky of North Carolina and David Sawicky of Ellsworth; a sister, Darla (Robert) Beveridge of New Eagle; four granddaughters, Courtney Hupp, Macy Blosenski, Kylie Wick and Bre Trusler; two great-grandsons and a great-granddaughter, along with many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Becky Bassich.
