Donna Jean Duvall Lee – Charleroi

By obits

Donna Jean Duvall Lee of Charleroi passed away peacefully in her apartment at Cedarhurst of Breese,
Ill., on Friday, Dec. 8, 2023. She was born in Granville Hollow, California, Pa., on March 20, 1933, daughter of the late Bertram “Peck” and Florence Duvall. She graduated from California High School, where she was active in organizations including cheerleading and was elected the May Queen. After high school, she attended St. Francis School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, graduating in 1955. While there, she was once again elected May Queen. On June 20, 1955, she married Gilbert G. Lee Jr. They were married for 45 years before Gilbert’s passing in 2001. Throughout their time together, they were residents of Charleroi and Fallowfield Township and were always active in their neighborhood and community. They had a lot of great times traveling with family and friends. As their family grew, Donna chose to give up her nursing career to raise her three boys, giving them a strong faith and sense of compassion and care for other people. She loved her family dearly and had the greatest satisfaction when she hosted Thanksgiving, Christmas and other events for family and friends at her home.  She also treasured her faith and the many friends she had at the Howe United Methodist Church in Long Branch.  Donna touched the lives of many with her kind and giving heart. She loved all the family fur babies and enjoyed spoiling them with treats and lots of affection. She is survived by her three sons, Doug and his wife Kathie; Dan and his wife Sherry; and Brian. In addition to her sons, she is also survived by five grandchildren, Lauren (Mike) Murphy, Brendan (Lena), Joshua (Becky), Christian and Mason (Ashley); and two great-grandchildren, Connor and Catelyn Murphy. She is also survived by a brother, John “Budge” Duvall and his wife Donna of California, Pa.; and a brother-in-law, Tom Lee and his wife Sandy of Greensburg, Pa.; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in eternal rest by her sisters, Audrey Hunt and Doris Brown. Donna will be laid to rest in Howe Cemetery next to her beloved husband, surrounded by the many generations of her family and friends who have gone before her to eternal life through the grace and truth of Jesus Christ. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, 2023, at Mariscotti Funeral Home, Anthony N. Mariscotti, supervisor, 323 Fourth St., California, PA, 15419.  A service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18, 2023, at Howe United Methodist Church, 453 Dally Road, Coal Center, PA 15423. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church on Monday morning. Memorial contributions may be made to the Howe United Methodist Church.
