Jules M. Massey Sr., 78, of Belle Vernon, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Dec. 10, 2023, with his family at his bedside, at Penn Highlands Mon Valley Hospital. A son of the late Emil Massey Sr. and Helen Lenhart Massey, Jules was born on April 20, 1945, in Monessen. A United States Marine veteran, he retired in 2003 from the Allenport plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel. Jules was a hardworking, faithful and loving husband, father and “pappy,” committed and devoted to his bride of 55 years. He was immensely proud of his family. He was lighthearted and enjoyed sharing his favorite stories and one-liners. Some of his hobbies included crossword puzzles, yard work, daily walks and working out at the gym. He especially loved his dogs and grand-dogs. He served in HOPE Church leadership as the head usher and assisted in various community outreaches. Jules is survived by his wife, Ninfa (Pennline) Massey; three daughters, Pamela Massey of Arcadia, Fla., Alicia (Terry) Santoro of Perryopolis and Julie (Paul Reed) Anders of Cape Coral, Fla.; two sons, Jules (Lorrie) Massey Jr. of Fayette City and Christopher (Kelly) Massey Sr. of Perryopolis; 13 grandchildren, Chelsy (Joshua) Kemp Sr., Kylie (Michael) Horrell, Zachary (Shykila) Santoro, Mallory (Joseph) Scalise, Hannah Santoro Laing, Elijah Santoro, Katlyn Massey, Caleb Massey, Jacob (Amanda) Anders, Emily (fiancé, Levy Montes de Oca) Anders, Morgan (Anthony) Lucketti, Christopher (girlfriend, Maria Gagetta) Massey Jr., and Mackenzie (fiancé, Dylan Celaschi) Massey; and 13 great-grandchildren, Joshua Kemp Jr., Carmen and Lorenzo Scalise, Kalani and Karina Horrell, Kingsly Laing, Antonio, Lilianna, Maximus, and Benjamin Anders, Brinnleigh, Rhett and Asher Roberts and Levi Lucketti; a sister, Rita (Greg) Evans of Perryopolis; and a brother, John (Kathy) Massey of Donora. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Emil (JoAnn) Massey Jr.; and a sister, Louise (Albert) Salaske. The family would like to thank Dr. L. Douglas Pepper, Dr. R. Krishnan and the staff at MVH CCU, as well as Pastor Jeff Marton and his church family. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at HOPE Church, 813 Fayette Ave., Belle Vernon. Funeral services will be at HOPE Church at 10 a.m. Wednesday with Pastor Jeff Marton officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
