Author honored for book on mental health struggles

After a tumultuous path navigating through the difficulties and complexities of mental illness, Belle Vernon author Jennifer Silbaugh decided to tell her story of self-discovery and empowerment with “A Dove in the Shadows,” which was released in September. While Silbaugh was nervous about being vulnerable to the world, she has received resounding support from readers, which culminated in her book winning first place in the nonfiction self-help category in the 2023 TAZ (The Author’s Zone) Awards. Silbaugh received the literary award during a ceremony last Saturday.
