Katherine Leach Wyland, 64, of Monongahela, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Nov. 27, 2023, at the Penn Highlands Mon Valley Hospital. Born Sept. 25, 1959, in Monongahela, she is the daughter of Regis Leach Jr. and the late Irene P. “Dolly” Haluschak Leach. Kathy is survived by her husband of 39 years, Michael Wyland; their children, Teralee Wyland and Ian Wyland (fiancée, Noelle Navarra) of Monongahela; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Regis III (Annette) of Monongahela, John (Diane) of Monongahela, and Mark (Doretta) of Monongahela; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Deborah (Steven) Bogdan of Monongahela, Linda (John) Wohar of California, Pa., Nancy Markovich-Makenzie (Carl), of Isle of Palm, S.C., and Judy (Philip) Arrigo of Clinton. Kathy also considered Sherri and Thomas Wetzel as part of her family.  She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and her cherished pets, Zuri and Ben. After graduating from Mon Valley Catholic in 1977, Kathy attended California University and Washington School of Nursing. She spent her next 43 years lovingly serving her family and community with nursing care and kindness.  She enjoyed cooking, canning and working in her garden.  Kathy had a way of making every person she met feel special and loved. Friends will be received in the MARSHALL MARRA FUNERAL HOME, 216 Chess St., Monongahela, 724-258-6767, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. Blessing prayers will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Saturday Dec. 2, 2023, followed by a Mass of Christian burial in St. Andrew the Apostle Parish, 1 Park Manor Rd., Donora, PA 15033. At the family’s request, interment will be private. Condolences can be made online at marshallmarrafuneralhome.com.
