Melvin Robert ‘Scotty’ Muir

Melvin Robert “Scotty” Muir died Oct. 6, 2021, at the age of 94. He was born Aug. 6, 1927, in Gastonville, Pa., to Robert and Katrina Muir. He was a graduate of Monongahela High School and a United States Army Veteran. Scotty was the only son and raised with his five sisters in Nottingham Township. He was an outstanding mechanic, truck driver and could fix anything. He always had a big broad smile that endeared him to everyone he met.

Mildred Jugan Muir

Mildred Jugan Muir died on her 93rd birthday, Nov. 22, 2023. Born in 1930 to Michael and Mary Jugan of Webster, Pa., Millie was one of 12 children. She was a graduate of Rostraver High School. A proud homemaker, she dedicated her life to the care of her family. Millie and Scotty were married for 73 years. When Scotty passed away in 2021 during COVID restrictions, Millie was unable to attend his funeral services. The family made the decision to hold a private service for Scotty and would honor their life together when Millie passed away. Together Millie and Scotty raised their two daughters, Joyce Muir (Ralph) DiFranco and Joan Muir (Henry) Rossi. They were grandparents to Kristin Difranco (Jeremy) Snyder and Henry Anthony “Tony” (Lauren) Rossi; and great-grandparents to Victoria Snyder, Dominic Snyder and Henry Anthony Rossi IV. They were devoted parents who were dedicated to their family, friends and neighbors. When they retired, they enjoyed traveling with loved ones. Always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone. As their health declined, they were no longer able to be active in the church as they once were but remained constant in their faith. They loved working on their home, in their yard and garden. They would share their bounty from the garden to all. It was impossible to leave their home without some type of produce they had grown. They will be greatly missed by all who loved them. It is of great comfort that they are reunited and resting in peace together. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, 2023, at James C. Stump Funeral Home Inc., 580 Circle Drive, Rostraver Township, 724-929-7934, www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery.
