Gerry Ellen Burkhardt Babines, 66, of Belle Vernon, passed away Friday, Nov. 17, 2023, at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. She was born Sept. 29, 1957, in New Eagle, daughter of George Burkhardt and the late Geraldine Andrews Burkhardt. Gerry was a 1975 graduate of Ringgold High School. She was a member of her student council, hosting class reunions. She worked at her family’s business, Ries Roofing and Heating in Donora, then at JCPenney in Pleasant Hills, and then finally at Walmart in Belle Vernon before retiring in 2021. Gerry enjoyed watching nature, gardening, building puzzles and meeting new people. She was a generous caregiver and a beloved family member. Surviving to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 43 years, Don Babines; a daughter, Alicia Babines; a son, Bryan Babines; six sisters, Karen (Joe) Oswald, Judith (Barry) Galiffa, Christie (Lou) Offerman, Barbara Burkhardt, Marijayne (Randy) Giovannucci and Lori Burkhardt; three brothers, Richard (Deb) Burkhardt, Robert (Debbie) Burkhardt and George (Kim) Burkhardt; a brother-in-law, Ron Babines; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Arrangements have been entrusted to ANTHONY L. MASSAFRA FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE INC., 40 Second St. Ext., Donora, PA 15033, 724-379-6900, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2023. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2023. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Monongahela.
