Mon Valley historian, educator & sports figure Steve Russell dies at 74

With a passion for history, local sports and his beloved Belle Vernon Area School District, the Mid-Mon Valley lost one of its biggest ambassadors Thursday. Longtime educator, historian, John F. Kennedy enthusiast and Leopard Stephen Russell died Thursday morning. He was 74 years old.
