EF runners in Veterans Day race

A day after the Elizabeth Forward boys cross country team narrowly missed out on what would have been its first-ever appearance at states, four boys from the squad laced their shoes up to run again for a bigger cause. When seniors Patrick Burgos, Thomas Fine and Hunter Thomas were told by their coach, Ted Grice, that he would be running in the Operation Troop Appreciation Veterans Day 5K on Nov. 5 to support his son in the Air Force less than 24 hours beforehand, they wasted no time in recruiting freshman runner Spencer Callaghan to join their coach as a five-man team in the race, which was held at Hampton Community Park in Allison Park.
